Teenagers sure aren't adults in the minds of their parents, but they are in their own minds. And the fact is that the more decisions you can trust them to make on their own, the more quickly they learn how to act like adults. Too many of them are treated like children for much too long, which I realize some of them bring on themselves. When you act like a child you're often treated like a child.

However, in keeping with allowing your teens to make more decisions on their own, I would definitely have them involved in custom designing their own stationery, unless you planned on making it a birthday or Christmas present. Their involvement in making the selections will serve as an encouragement to them to write more often. Just like us adults, when you have very fine stationery you tend to use it more often.
