Between birthdays and pool parties and Christmas, pre-teens are often going to a party or having one. On some occasions invitations aren't necessarily needed, but sometimes they are. And like adults, pre-teens enjoy sending out really cool invitations too. It's not only fun to send them, it's also fun for those who receive them. It adds a spark to the party and helps set the tone, the same as with adults. Whenever you have a pre-teen who wants to have a party, get them very involved with you. Talk about what food you may want to serve, if any, games that they may enjoy, and the hours of the party. Don't just say that the party will start at 4:00 PM, say when it's going to be over as well. It's also a good idea to get them involved with the invitations. Get their input on what they want the invitations to say, and make sure that you have all of the names and addresses of everyone they want to invite. Sometimes pre-teens can rely too much on mom and/or dad in a given situation and something gets left out that shouldn't have been if everyone was involved and talking openly.
